Welcome to The Long View

I am a recent graduate with a deep interest in finance and business, and an ambition to work as either an active equities portfolio manager or entrepreneur. I started this newsletter to connect with and learn from others with similar interests.

Between working as an intern in financial services and studying, I publish original investment ideas and spontaneous musings about investing and learning.

My investment approach is based on certain principles:

  • Valuation is imprecise, and I therefore demand a margin of safety of at least 50% to minimise my downside and maximise my upside.

  • Shares represent fractional ownership interests in real businesses. Fundamentals drive performance in the long-term.

  • I look for simple companies whose drivers I can understand (adaptive laziness).

  • The distinction between value and growth is complete nonsense. It’s the same thing.

If you appreciate, profit from, or want to get in contact, you can reward me with a subscription.
